Ben Gillies

Ben Gillies is an Australian musician best known as the drummer for the rock band Silverchair. Born on November 24, 1979, in Newcastle, New South Wales, he co-founded the band in 1992 alongside lead vocalist Daniel Johns and bassist Chris Joannou. Silverchair gained international fame in the 1990s with their debut album, "Frogstomp" (1995), which featured hits like "Tomorrow." Their follow-up albums, "Freak Show" (1997) and "Neon Ballroom" (1999), solidified their status in the alternative rock scene, showcasing a blend of grunge and post-grunge influences. Gillies' drumming is characterized by its dynamic range and technical proficiency, contributing significantly to the band's sound. Notable works include "Diorama" (2002) and "Young Modern" (2007), both of which received critical acclaim and commercial success.
